The application of CAFCO-BOARD® / ISOLATEK® Type CB requires basic carpentry hand tools. The board is installed in a box configuration by using friction fit patented CAFCLIPS or weld pins on beams and columns. It is fastened to the underside of metal decking by use of weld pins or self tapping screws.

Products

One of the main advantages of CAFCO-BOARD® / ISOLATEK® Type CB is its ease of installation. The following items and tools are all that is necessary to install CAFCO-BOARD / ISOLATEK Type CB on any given project:
  • Basic carpentry hand tools (i.e. handsaw, boning knife, steel cutters, etc).
  • Beam or Column Application:
    • 11 gauge CAFCLIP, secured to upper and lower beam flange or fitted onto column flanges.
    • As an alternate to CAFCLIP, 1/8 in. (3mm) diameter steel wire stud, welded to flange edges.
    • For use with CAFCLIP and weld pins, No. 26 MSG galvanized steel, 1-1/2 in. (38mm) square or 1-1/2 in. (38mm) diameter round clinch shields.
  • Floor Deck Application:
    • No. 10 gauge weld pins.
    • 1 in. (25mm) diameter or square self-locking washers.
  • Roof Deck Application:
    • No. 12 standard, self tapping insulation screw or equivalent.
    • As an alternate to self tapping insulation screws, No. 10 gauge weld pins.
    • For use with screws, 3 in. (76mm) diameter steel plate insulation washers.
    • For use with weld pins, 1 in. (25mm) diameter self-locking washers may be used.

Installation can occur over all painted, primed or encapsulated surfaces as well as substrates where rust, oil or loose mill scale conditions exist.
